Trends Asset Management is a family office allocator based out of Hong Kong.

We allocate our AUM into mostly hedge funds and alternative investments. Below is our investment philosophy:

  1. The Trends Asset Management’s investment philosophy is based upon the principle of loss aversion (Kahneman and Tversky; 1979) which suggests that avoiding losses is a much more powerful force, both psychologically and mathematically, than gains of the same value.
  2. We fundamentally disagree that diversification in the traditional investment context provides enough protection against downside risk, especially during times of heightened volatility and/or interest rate risk.
  3. Ultimately, our aim to achieve downside protection without sacrificing too much on the upside participation is our core guiding investment principle. 
  4. We believe this can be best accomplished through investing in an optimally allocated portfolio of diverse and non-correlated hedge fund and alternative investment strategies that are also individually outstanding performing assets on their own.
